Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, more commonly known as CFS, or M.E is a serious, long term health condition. Stressors and traumas on the body and brain overtime have resulted in a maladaptive stress response, that creates a dysfunction of the nervous system, which will be experienced as one, or many symptoms.

Fatigue is the most common symptom, but it is unusual to not have additional symptoms such as pain, sensitivities, gut problems, nausea, dizziness, tinnitus, brain fog etc. As a result of the stress response the brain has switched into a constant state of high alert (often referred to as the fight/flight/freeze response).

The hardware is fine, but the software has gone wrong. The brain is acting on false information/data and as a result, the nervous system has become hypersensitive. This in turn leads to the symptoms mentioned above.

There are many other illnesses that are closely linked to CFS/M.E. The symptoms could be very similar, or different, but they are commonly rooted in stress and a dysfunctional nervous system.
Long Covid
A group of health problems that continue long after the initial infection and virus.. These symptoms are very similar to CFS/ME symptoms. Fatigue, pain, brain fog, sleep problems, muscle aches etc are common symptoms.
Fibromyalgia
A chronic disorder that causes widespread pain and other symptoms. This often starts after a stressful event, or a series of stressors over time.
POTS (Postural Orthastatic Tachycardia Syndrome)
An illness that causes symptoms like dizziness, fatigue and a fast heart rate when you transition from lying down to standing up. An imbalance in the autonomic nervous system is at the heart of the problem.
FND (Functional Neurological Disorder)
A brain-based condition that impacts how the brain sends and receives information throughout the body.
IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)
Is a condition that leads to uncomfortable, or painful abdominal symptoms. This illness is often caused and triggered by stressors on the body and issues with the nervous system and gut-brain interaction.
MCS (Multiple Chemical Sensitivities)
A health problem that continues long after the initial exposure. Common symptoms include fatigue, headaches, muscle pain, memory loss, confusion etc.
Post Viral Fatigue
This is when fatigue that started with a viral infection continues for a long period after the infection has gone. The treatment for Post Viral Fatigue is very similar to the treatment for CFS/M.E. The focus is on bringing the nervous system back into a state of balance/homeostatis.
